Abstract

Dengue is a major health concern in Bangladesh, South Asia, dengue fever was first reported in 1964.Bangladesh with the tropical climate has become an ideal land for dengue virus transmission. Bangladesh is situated in the dengue-endemic zone of the South-East Asian region. The first dengue epidemic was reported here in 2000 with 5,521 confirmed dengue cases and 92 deaths. Since then, Bangladesh has experienced a number of outbreaks of dengue. The largest one occurred in 2019, peaked from July to October affecting more than 100 thousand people, and caused 164 deaths all over the country. Since the beginning of August 2021, the country has seen dengue hospitalization cases rise by 13793, 84 percent of the annual total of 16,451 cases. Just 372 cases were reported in the six months between January and June.
